Ħelow!
Welcome to Il-kelma tal-ġimgħa, Maltese for The Word of the Week. As a learner myself, I created this site to help us learn interesting, useful words in context. I wanted more than just a list of translations.
How does it work?
Each Monday (Maltese time):
- I will publish a new word on the Il-kelma page.
- Previous words will be available through the Arkivju page.
Each word card:
- has a publication date in Maltese at the top.
- displays the word as a title.
- has an UI toggle to switch between English and Polish (Polski) translations.
- shows an example sentence.
- provides the source for the example, such as a native speaker, course content, a book, or a website.
- displays a tag related to the word, for example, “nom” (noun).
How can you use it?
You won’t learn Maltese just by using this website.
The site is a tool to help you learn, but you must practice on your own.
I recommend to use the words and example sentences as a start. Find ways to use them on your own, in writing or speaking. To actively remember them, get exposed often and use them repeatedly.
Have fun!
